Wie es läuft/ How it work out

Hallo Leute,
nachdem ich unsere Pläne A bis C präsentiert habe, sollte ich mal berichten, wie es jetzt ausgegangen ist:

after I presented our Plans A to C I should update you how things worked out:

Tag 1 (Mitwoch):
Wir konnten sechs Stunden Arbeiten und haben uns mit unserer Kate unterhalten. Wir haben ihr unsere Situation erklärt und gemeint wen es so weiter geht müssen wir packen und weiter ziehen. Daraufhin konnten wir anfangen mit streichen. Jetzt können wir evtl. morgen nochmal ein paar Stunden arbeiten. Es scheint aber als würde sie Gas geben, damit wir zum Arbeiten kommen. Simon und ich warten jetzt morgen auch noch ab, aber es sieht relativ gut aus. Vielleicht können wir sogar auf ihrem Grundstück Zelten, mal sehen. Es scheint auf jeden Fall als ob Plan A funktionieren könnte.
Day 1 (Wednesday):
Today we were able to work six hours and talked to Kate. We explained the situation to her and told her that in case it continues the way it was the last days we would have to leave. After we talked to her we started painting. Maybe we can work some more hours tomorrow. But the good thing is that it seems it's getting started now. Simon and I will wait till tomorrow and the see how that day went by. But I am very confident that Plan A is going to work for a while. Maybe there is the possibility of us camping on Kate's property but I cannot say that for sure.

Tag 2 (Donnerstag):
Wir haben nochmal einige Stunden gearbeitet, sodass wir bis Montag aus kommen. Wir sind zuversichtlich die zwei Wochen, bis wir auf die Farm zu Lucas kommen können, überbrückt zu bekommen. Außerdem könnte ich evtl. einen Kontakt mit der Australian Air Ambulance bekommen, was mich sehr Reizen würde, da ich in dem Bereich ja meine Berufliche Zukunft sehe.
Day 2 (Thursday):
We were able to work for a couple of hours so we should be able to make it till Monday. I am very positive we should get the time covered till we can come to their farm where Lucas works in about two weeks. In addition I probably could get in touch with the Australian Air Ambulance what would really interesting for me because that's the kind of work I actually want work as my profession.

Tag 3 (Freitag):
Heute konnten wir nicht abreiten, aber dafür sollen wir Montag wohl wieder da sein. Auf der Bank haben wir mal wieder die nächsten Probleme beseitigt, da Westpac mal wieder irgendeinen Fahler gemacht hat und unsere Bankkarten noch immer nicht da sind. Simon und ich haben unseren Strafzettel bezahlt für falsches Campen, aber die eigentliche schlechte Nachricht ist, das wir wohl ungefähr noch drei Wochen warten müssen, bis wir bei Lucas auf der Farm anfangen können, was wirklich noch lange ist... Lukas in Bundaberg sitzt immer noch in seinem Working-Hostel und wartet.
Day 3 (Friday):
We were not able to work today but we are supposed to work again on Monday. We went to our bank and had to organize some stuff because Westpac made some mistakes so our bankcards are still nor here. Also Simon and I payed our fine for illegal camping (we were not aware of that, obviously). But the real bad news today was that we have to wait another three weeks until we can start at this farm where Lucas is working. That's really a long time... Lukas in Bundaberg is still sitting in this working hostel, waiting.

Tag 4 (Samstag):
Heute war ein deprimierender Tag. Wir waren am nachdenken, wie wir die drei Wochen rumbekommen, bis wir auf die Farm zu Lucas können. Simon hatte dann die Idee (meine liebe Tante hat mir den Tipp auch schon mal gegeben), das wir doch WWOOFen (Willing Workers On Organic Farms - Wollende Arbeiter auf Organischen Farmen; wörtlich übersetzt) probieren sollen. Hier arbeitet man auf einer Farm aber gegen Unterkunft und Essen. Ich war nicht unbedingt so begeistert davon, auch weil das Buch (Anmeldung) nochmal 35 Dollar pro Person kostet. Aber es hörte sich wie unsere sinnvollste Lösung an. Also ging es los, das Buch kaufen in einem Reisebüro, wo ich sofort die beste Laune hatte, nachdem ich einen Prospekt mit Deutschland und Alpen Reisen durchgeguckt hatte. In dem Buch waren dann die Adressen der Farmen und wir haben gleich fleißig Telefonier und E-Mails geschrieben.
Day 4 (Saturday):
Today was a depressed day. We were thinking how to handle the next three weeks until we can start at the Farm Lucas is already working at. Simon had the Idea (my lovely aunt told me about this, too) to do WWOOFing (Willing Workers On Organic Farms). When you are a WWOOFer you work at an organic Farm for food and accommodation. I wasn’t sure if that’s a great idea or not ; Also because the book was 35 AUD each. But it was the only real solution for our Problem. So we bought the book at a travel agent where I looked at some prospects for traveling Germany and the Alps. Instantly after that my mood was great! The book gave us addresses and we started mailing and calling people.

Tag 5 (Sonntag):
Heute Morgen habe ich gleich meine E-Mails angeschaut ob wir schon Antworten bekommen haben: Es waren ganze sechs Absagen (ich habe aber viel mehr E-Mails geschrieben) und eine Zusage! Es geht um eine Farm die auch Camphill kennt (wir haben unsere Zeugnisse vom Camphill angehangen). Wir sollen dort für einige Tage die Farm am Leben halten, damit die Familie einige Tage frei haben kann. Wir können kommen wann wir wollen! Kate, die Dame bei der wir momentan eher unregelmäßig helfen, hat kein Problem damit wenn wir Mittwoch abhauen und so werden wir Mittwoch nach Coonoy fahren und dort von Kaye abgeholt. Bei dem bleiben wir dann ca. drei Wochen und dann geht es zu Lucas. Montag können wir auf jeden Fall nochmal bei Kate helfen.
Day 5 (Sunday):
This morning I checked my e-mails for replys: six people told uns they don’t need WWOOFers at the moment and one who wants us to come. It is a farm that knows about Camphill (we send our resumes from Kimberton). We should come there and learn how to keep the farm going for a view days so the family here can have a view days off and we can come whenever we want. Kate, the lady we are helping irregular, is fine with us leaving for Cooroy on Wednesday. Here Kaye will pick us up. We will stay at her property for three weeks and then we travel up to Lucas. Monday we should help Kate once again.

Tag 6 (Montag):
Heute haben wir den Bus nach Coonoy gebucht. Außerdem wollten wir nochmal etwas bei Kate aushelfen, aber die hat abgesagt, was unsere Finanzplanung wiedermal leicht geschädigt hat. So sind wir dann heute am Strand gewesen (den ich inzwischen nichtmehr sehen kann) und ich war laufen. Heute Abend gehen wir nochmal ein bisschen in die Stadt und hoffentlich können wir nochmal morgen bei Kate etwas machen.
Day 6 (Monday)
Today we booked the bus to Cooroy. We cannot help Kate today. This is not ideal for our finance planning but we will work it out. Today we went to the beach (the beach is a little bit annoying when there is nothing else to do in town) and I was running. Tonight we’ll go in to town for a bit and we hope to be able to help Kate at least tomorrow for a bit.

Tag 7 (Dienstag):
Es kommt immer alles anders als man Denkt. Natürlich konnten wir heute auch nicht zu Kate, aber wir haben noch genug Essen im Kühlschrank. Den Strand kann ich inzwischen auch nichtmehr sehen, so haben wir einen Film geguckt, Backgammon gespielt, gelesen und waren nochmal kurz in der Stadt. Ich habe mal wieder angefangen, das breite Internetangebot von HPZ und Co in Anspruch zu nehmen und ein bisschen über mein weiteres Leben nachzudenken (diese Internetseiten kann ich nur sehr empfehlen! Es gibt auch Gratis Bücher zum Runterladen: http://www.hpz.com/ und www.hpz.com/hypnose-erfolgs-blog). Morgen geht’s dann auf zu unserer ersten wirklichen Arbeit in Australien!
Die Beste Nachricht für den Tag: Meine Airline (Asiana Airways) zahlt mit auf dem Rückflug von Sydney, nach Seoul und Frankfurt, auf der 19 Stunden Zwischenlandung eine Übernachtung in einem vier Sterne Hotel in Seoul.
Day 7 (Tuesday):
Everything doen’t work the way you expect it to. We couldn’t help Kate and I really don’t want to see the beach anymore. We still have enough food in the fridge; So we watched a movie, played Backgammon, read a bit and went into town. I also used the great offers of HPZ and Co. In this contents I though a bit how my life could go on. Yea and tomorrow we travel to our first real workplace.
The best News for the day: The Airline (Asiana Airways) I fly with back home (Sydney to Seoul and Seoul to Frankfurt and there is a 19 hour overnight stop in Seoul) is going to pay a night in a four star hotel in Seoul for me.

Tag 8 und 9 (Mittwoch und Donnerstag):
Wir sind jetzt auf unserer kleinen Farm angekommen und hier ist es sehr gemütlich. Es gibt gutes Essen, aber es ist sehr sehr Heiß hier im Landesinneren (obwohl wir nur wenige Kilometer von der Küste entfernt sind). Heute sind wir am Nachmittag an den Strand gefahren und hatten dort 31°C, während es in unserem Heim 40°C waren. Außerdem habe ich zum ersten Mal eine Ziege gemolken.
Es könnte jedenfalls genau hin hauen mit unserer Planung. Wenn Kaye zurück kommt müsste es schon wenige Tage später auf der Farm bei Lucas anfangen.
Day 8 and 9 (Wednesday and Thursday):
We arrived on our small farm and it is really nice here. We have good food (all organic) but it is really hot. That’s because we are not at the coast anymore, although it’s not far away. Today we drove to the beach where it was about 87°F while it was 104°F in our new home. And I milked a goat for the first time in my life.
Our plan could work out really well. About the time when Kaye comes back from her trip we can go up to Lucas and start around that time.

also wie würde man in der Fachsprache sagen: "Die Lage spitzt sich zu".
Die gute Dame bei der wir das Haus streichen sollten, kommt nicht in die Gänge und in den letzten fünf Tagen haben wir ganze 5 Stunden gearbeitet, was unsere Lebenshaltungskosten bei weitem nicht deckt. Das heißt Simon und ich haben usn jetzt mal gedanken gemacht, wie es weiter gehen soll.

Ich weiß nicht ob ich schon von Lucas erzählt habe: Er ist jetzt auf einer Farm, bei der wie auch bald Anfangen können (in etwa zwei bis drei Wochen). Er lebt in einem Wohnwagen in einer Scheune und in der nächsten Umgebung von einigen vielen vielen Kiloetern gibt es diekt nebendran eine Tankstelle (wo er auch das Bad hat), einige Felder und ein Münztelefon, das heißt kein Handynetz und kein Internet.

Ok, it's getting interesting:
The Lady Simon and I should work for doesn't have enough work for us to cover our on going costs. That means we had to think about what to do next.

I don't know if I told you about Lucas allready. He is on a Farm where Simon and I also want to start as soon as there is work. That should be in about two to three weeks. He lives in a camping trailer in a shed in there is a lot going on in the area. Htere is a gas station (with his bathroom) some fields, a public phone and no station for his mobile phone and no internet.

Plan A:
Wir rufen die Dame morgen nochmal an und fragen inwiefern es jetzt mit unseren Arbeitszeiten weiter geht. Wenn wir die nächsten Tage richtig anfangen können und ans arbeiten kommen, können wir somit auch unsere unkosten decken und hier bleiben.
Ich halte das für unwahrscheinlich...
Plan A:
We call our Lady (Kate) tomorrow again and ask how her plans are doing and especially how much work she has for hus. If we can work a lot the next days we can stay. But I don't think this will happen...

Plan B:
Wen das nicht klappt, werden wir so schnell wie möglich versuchen hier weg zu kommen, denn arbeit gibt es hier keine...
Falls wir bei einer Freundin von Lucas, in Brisbane, für einige Nächte bleiben können würden wir versuchen über diese Zeit dort einen Job zu bekkommen. Wenn wir etwas finden, können wir erst dort nochmal bleiben bis wir zu Lucas auf die Farm nachkommen können. Wenn nicht muss es wieder wo anders hin gehen...
Plan B:
if this doesn't work out we will get out of Byron Bay as soon as possible. We tried to find other places to work but didn't find anything. Maybe we could saty in Brisbane at a friend of Lucas for a couple of nights. Then we would try to get work in Brisbane. If we find something we will stay there for a while untill they need us at the Farm where Lucas is staying. If we don't find something we have to go on...

Plan C:
Das wäre der Notfallplan: Mit dem letzten was wir noch haben würden wir dan zu Lucas ins nirgendwo fahren und dort ausharren bis wir auch bei der Farm anfangen können. (Hätte den Vorteil das ich eine Postadresse hätte bis ich nach Deutschland zurück komme)
Plan C:
Worst case: We would make it upt o where Lucas with our last reserves and the stay there wit him until we can start working at the farm. (This would have the advantage that I ahve a mailing adress till I go back to germany)

Oktober, wir sind in Australien

Hallo meine lieben in Deutschland.
Jetzt bin ich schon zwei Wochen in Australien und es ist so viel Passiert.
Auf dem weg hier hin sind Lucas Simon und ich über Seoul (Süd Korea) geflogen. Dort haben wir uns die Innenstadt angeschaut, aber hier, genau wie in Sydney, fühlt man sich nun mal wie in den USA oder Deutschland. Jedenfalls habe ich den Eindruck das alle Großstädte dieser Welt (zumindest die ich kenne) vom Grunde her sehr ähnlich sind. Die Deutschen mögen noch am verschiedensten ein, aber Seoul, Sydney oder New York… so einen großen Unterschied sieht man im groben nicht. Wenn man ins Detail geht schon, aber die Details sieht man nur bei sehr genauem hinschauen in 4 Stunden in Seoul, einigen wiederholten Wochenenden in New York und Philadelphia, oder einigen Tagen in Sydney. Man muss sich bemühen die Menschen und die Mentalitäten zu sehen und nicht nur die Fassaden und die schöne Oper.

Hello my friends in the States, Luxembourg, France, South Korea and wherever else.
I am now already two weeks in Australia and there is so much that happened.
When Lucas, Simon and I came down here we had a stop in Seoul. Here we did some sightseeing in the city. But the big cities on this planet are all more or less the same and you don’t really feel like being in South Korea, just the same like in Sydney where you don’t really feel like being in Australia. At least I feel like the big cities on this planet all look very alike. I would say the German ones are very unique but looking at Seoul, Sydney or New York…if you don’t look closer there is not that big of a difference. You have to look closer and keep more attention to the details on a four hours stay in Seoul, some weekend trips to New York City and Philadelphia or a couple of days in Sydney. One really has to pay attention to see the people and the mentality and not only the big skyscrapers and the beautiful Opera House.

Wie auch immer, inzwischen haben wir eine Woche in Sydney hinter uns. Dort haben wir sehr stark nach Arbeit gesucht und nach einem Auto. Als wir dann das Auto (ein Holden Apollo mit 244.000 km) hatten haben wir uns zwei Tage später auf nach Norden gemacht. In Sydney gibt es kaum Arbeit und wir suchten zu dem Zeitpunkt noch nach einer Arbeit für uns vier zusammen. Dann ging es auf einem eineinhalb Tages Trip nach Byron Bay. 770 km später waren wir dann in der Partyhochburg der Ostküste. Party gab es bis jetzt für mich keine. Wir sind hier wegen der Aussicht in einer Hühnchenfabrik arbeiten zu können. Das lässt aber noch ein paar Wochen auf sich warten und dann ist auch nicht sicher, ob es Arbeit für uns gibt. Also ging die Suche weiter. Weitere Ereignisse hier waren, das wir unser Auto jetzt auf Lucas’s Namen registriert haben und Berit (eine Freundin von Lucas, die uns schon sehr viel bei der Vorbereitung in Deutschland und beim Start in Sydney geholfen hat / sie hat schon ein Jahr hier hinter sich). Zu dem Auto… Ich habe mich inzwischen ja an das links Fahren gewöhnt, aber in Sydney, ungefähr 45 Minuten nach dem Kauf bin ich einem Mann in sein Heck gefahren, was einen Blechschaden verursacht hat. Glücklicherweise war es nur ein Blechschaden und er meinte „Is how it is“ – „Es ist, wie es ist“ und ist weiter gefahren. Ja das war meine Schuld…
Whatever; we had spend a week in Sydney now. Here our main task had been finding a job and a car. First we found a car (a Holden Apollo with 151.000 miles) and two days later we did our way up north. In Sydney we barely found work and at that time we were still searching for a place for the four of us. So we went up to Byron Bay in one and a half days. 480 miles later we arrived in the party-town of the east coast. But at least I didn’t party at all yet. We came here because of the hope to work in a chicken factory as process worker. But processing our application takes up to next week Friday and we still don’t know if we have work for sure. So we kept searching. Other things that happened had been that our car is now registered on Lucas’s name and that Berit is with us again (a friend of Lucas. She already helped us getting things organized in Germany and getting started in Sydney / she is here now her second year). Yea and the car… I can say I got used to drive on the wrong side of the road but in Sydney I bumped into another car just 45 minutes after we bought it. It’s just a little damage and the guy of the other car said “IS ho it is” and took off… Yep that was my fault…

Jedenfalls sind wir jetzt in Byron Bay. Simon und ich haben Arbeit gefunden und Lucas und Lukas werden am Wochenende uns verlassen. Sie fahren weitere 550 km nach Norden. Dort versucht Lukas in einem working-hostel (einer Jugendherberge die Arbeit vermittelt und einen dort hin bringt) etwas zu finden, während Lucas etwas ins Landesinnere fährt um da bei einer Farm zu Arbeiten. Wenn alles gut klappt ist bei dieser Farm in ungefähr zwei Wochen mehr Arbeit und wir kommen dorthin nach.
So now we are in Byron Bay. Simon and I found work and Lucas and Lukas will leave us on the weekend. They are going to travel 340 miles up north. Lukas will try to find work in a working-hostel and Lucas is going a little into the country to work on a farm. In case everything works out the farm will need more people to help harvesting in about two weeks. That will be the time for us to go there, too.

Das Land Australien ist finde ich europäischer als die USA nur viel weiter gestreckt. Was will man von dem Land mit der geringsten Bevölkerung, nach der Arktis, erwarten… Was es auch europäischer macht ist das die Straßen Normalgröße haben und es Kleinwagen gibt. Die LKW hier sind zwar normalerweise ein 40-Tonner, wie wir sie in Deutschland haben, + einen zweiten Aufleger… Das wären das 40 Tonnen mal zwei minus das was für den zweiten Aufleger gebrauch wird… Also ungefähr so 60-70 Tonnen!?
I think the country of Australia is way more European than the USA. But here is way more space. What should I say; this country is the one with the least amount of citizens beside the Antarctica… What makes Australia more European: the roads in a “normal” size and they have hatchbacks!

Jedenfalls sind wir schon am östlichsten Punkt des Australischen Festlandes gewesen und haben Kängurus und Eidechsen gesehen und eine Stadt in der Marihuana Rauchen legal ist (die Australier spinnen). Es gibt als noch vieles mehr zu sehen.

Otherwise i have been to the most easterly point of the Australia mainland and saw some kangaroo’s and lizards and a town there is smoking weed legal (the Australians are not quiet in order…). But there is much more to see.
